Nozomi Networks and Cervello have teamed up to provide rail cybersecurity solutions. In addition, AirTrain stations designed and built by Skanska USA at San Francisco International Airport have received LEED Gold certifications; TRAC Intermodal was named the best overall supplier of chassis to the Port of New York and New Jersey; and Trapeze Group and Sentient Science are teaming up to help transit agencies plan and budget for track maintenance.

Based in San Francisco, California Nozomi Networks and Tel Aviv, based in Israel Cervello will now provide the rail industry with comprehensive, end-to-end cybersecurity, the companies said. “Cervello’s rail threat detection complements Nozomi’s cybersecurity portfolio to simplify, evolve and strengthen rail security operations, while helping customers identify and effectively respond to cyberthreats before they enter their network. and their critical activities through Nozomi Networks converged IT / IoT / OT competence, ”they explained. “The Cervello platform seamlessly connects and protects railway communication, signaling and control systems against potential or existing threats to safety and security. “

“The digital transformation of global rail systems increasingly requires IoT and cloud-based solutions to improve the safety, efficiency and reliability of railways,” said Chet Namboodri, senior vice president of business development and Nozomi Networks alliances. “Of course, this targeted proliferation and use of IoT opens the door to new cyber threats and increases the attack surface for railways and transportation. That’s why Nozomi Networks has partnered with Cervello to help rail operators ensure safe and reliable transportation, while avoiding operational disruptions. We have several joint projects underway with advanced rail systems in Europe, and this now formalized global partnership allows us to expand our joint efforts more quickly around the world.

The AirTrain Blue Line at San Francisco International Airport has been extended from the rental car center to the Lot DD long-term parking structure. This project included two new AirTrain stations – one at Lot DD and one at the new Grand Hyatt hotel at the airport – and system upgrades.

Two new AirTrain stations completed in May as part of the San Francisco International AirportThe AirTrain Extension and Improvement Project recently obtained LEED® Gold certifications from the US Green Building Council. Skanska United States provided progressive design-build service for the $ 172 million project, which began in August 2016.

The Grand Hyatt hotel at the airport and the Long Term Parking (LTP) stations (see map above) have been certified Gold under LEED for Building Design and Construction (LEED BD + C) v4, which provides a framework for building a holistic green environment. building, Skanska USA reported.

The expansion and improvement project implemented more than 50 sustainable practices, according to the construction and development company. Highlights include:

• Installation of a large solar photovoltaic (PV) system on the roof of the SFO # 2 long term parking garage. With 2,700 photovoltaic panels, it generates around 40% of the annual energy needs of AirTrain stations.
• The use of new water-saving fittings and accessories that reduce water consumption by around 40%.
• Recycling of over 75% of construction and demolition debris.
• Purchase of building products and materials that meet LEED volatile organic compound (VOC) emission criteria to reduce indoor chemical contaminant concentrations.
• Test indoor air quality at both stations to confirm compliance with LEED air quality rating standards.
• Selection of building products and materials from manufacturers who “transparently disclose information on the environmental life cycle of products to reduce global environmental impact”.

“The completion of the AirTrain long-term parking extension has materialized our vision to provide a clean and transparent energy connection between all of our terminals, parking lots, hotels and car rental facilities,” said Ivar C. Satero , director of SFO airport. “At the same time, the project continued our tradition of industry leadership in the design, construction and operation of sustainable buildings. This LEED® Gold certification is a tribute to the dedicated project team who turned this vision into reality.

The Association of two-state road hauliers named TRAC Intermodal as the best overall chassis supplier in the Port of New York and New Jersey. This is the fourth time in the past six years that TRAC has received this honor.

“The record freight volumes we have experienced have made it extremely difficult to maintain a sufficient stock of reliable, road-ready chassis,” said Lisa Yakomin, president of the Bi-State Motor Carriers Association, a group of members. non-profit organization of 170 trucking and industry-related companies doing business in the Port of New York and New Jersey. “TRAC Intermodal has shown extraordinary dedication to providing a high level of service during this period of unprecedented demand, and we are proud to recognize their efforts. … ”

TRAC Intermodal President and CEO Daniel Walsh said: “We are especially proud to be honored during difficult times of record freight volumes and pressing chassis demand, which underscores our commitment to supply our customers get top-quality, safe and reliable equipment. “

Buffalo, NY Runway Maintenance Software Sensitive science will now be integrated with Enterprise Asset Management, Capital Planning and State of Good Repair tools in Mississauga, Ontario Trapeze Group. “This collaboration enables railways and railways to measure the life extension and cost savings of grinding, milling and rail friction management, thereby enabling agencies to take informed investment decisions, ”the companies said.

Sentient Science’s DigitalClone for Rail Maintenance (DC-RM) software “helps track engineers and chief engineers to simulate and compare the life extension of different maintenance strategies, including grinding, milling, friction management and rail material selection, ”according to the supplier.

Trapeze EAM is an asset management platform that helps railways plan their capital “through a clear cost-benefit analysis of job specifications, budget impact, future cost avoidance and alternatives considered, ”the company explained.

“[W]We are delighted with this joint initiative with Trapeze to make it easier for railway companies to show that they are optimally maintaining their rail and ultimately save money, ”said Wesley Thomas, vice-president. Senior President and CEO, Rail at Sentient Science.
