Although the coronavirus pandemic still lingers over everything in the city, more and more events are added to New Orleans’ social calendar. Many of these events are great for our Big Easy couples and include more than just trunk shows.
Speaking of trunk shows, Town & Country Bridal on St. Charles Avenue is running a Georgia Young trunk show until October 16th. Town & Country noted on Instagram that space is limited, special incentives apply, and you must call the store at 504-523 -7027 to make an appointment.
It’s not a parade, but The Bridal Boutique by MaeMe on Severn Avenue in Metairie is still dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, but announced on its Instagram page that date bookings are resuming for December. Visit the store’s website, call 504-266-2771 or send a message on social media.
Sir Richard Branson was in town recently to celebrate the opening of his new Virgin Hotel in New Orleans. Although the hotel officially opened in August 2021, it has faced the pandemic and a hurricane. As you can imagine, this hotel is as colorful as its owner. The hotel rooms range in size from 294 square feet to 1,097 square feet. If you are looking for a romantic getaway or a place to prepare for your wedding day, you might have something here. “Richard’s Penthouse Flat” features floor to ceiling windows overlooking downtown New Orleans and begging to be a honeymoon suite.
In other hotel news, the JW Marriott New Orleans was recently awarded by Conde Nast with a Reader’s Choice Award for the # 3 Hotel in New Orleans. The Reader’s Choice Awards are one of the longest standing awards for the travel industry and over 800,000 Conde Nast Traveler readers submitted their nominations this year.
The JW Marriott New Orleans has 501 guest rooms and suites, including a few split-level suites that add that little extra to your hotel stay. Some hotel amenities include a 24-hour fitness center, a rooftop pool, and a lobby lounge that includes craft cocktails, plates, and entrees to share.
The 2021 Readers’ Choice Awards are published on the Condé Nast Traveler website at cntraveler.com/rca and celebrated in the November issue.
A romantic date
Travel and vacation experience experts getyourguide.com recently put together a list of top Halloween activities and, unsurprisingly, New Orleans made the list.
The New Orleans History and Haunts Carriage Ride Night Tour has been chosen as the Halloween highlight on the app and website. During this 1-hour carriage ride through the French Quarter, participants will hear tales of pirates, ghosts, haunted restaurants, and visit haunted places like the Lafitte Forge and LaLaurie Mansion.
This is the perfect opportunity for a date, as couples can upgrade to a private tour for up to 4 people. Book via getyourguide.com here or directly via Royal Carriages here.
